The Recordata Back 1 has two data-presetting dials allowing the photographer to record information in numerical and alphabetical symbols directly onto the film. Mounted on the OM body in place of the standard camera back, this unit is capable of printing the either the day or a following number (0..36), and either the month (1..12), the year (75..84) or an alphabetic code (A..M) directly in the lower right corner of the picture.
It is capable of printing on colour and B&W films, selectable by a Film Indicator.
Only single-digit OM bodies have exchangeable backs.
To remove, open the back by pulling the Rewind Knob/Camera Back Release, and press down the Hinge Release Pin at the left hand side.
This unit is powered by two 1.5V batteries (SR44 or LR44).
The Synchro Plug connects to the Synchro Socket of the OM body. With the OM-1 or OM-2, the Synchro Flash Selector should be set to 'FP':
1) when no electronic flash is used
2) when the Motor Drive is used in Sequential Mode.
This unit has a year limit of 1984 and has been replaced with the Recordata Back 2, which also has been replaced, with Recordata Back 3 and Recordata Back 4.
With the OM-1 or OM-2, Recordata Back 3 is recommended; with the OM-1n, OM-2n, OM-2Sp, OM-3(Ti) or OM-4(Ti), Recordata Back 4 is recommended.
